Calewarts, Robert J. (Bob)

Robert J. (Bob) Calewarts, 79, Village of Howard, passed away at Unity Hospice Residence after a short illness, on Monday, Nov. 17, 2008.

Bob was born on Aug. 9, 1929, in Green Bay, to the late Joseph and Nettie (Caelwaerts) Calewarts. He served in the U.S. Army as a parachutist in the 11th Airborne Division and received an honorable discharge in 1948. Bob married June Alice Buss on Oct. 7, 1950, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Howard. He was employed as a pressman in the printing department at Milprint Inc. for 41 years, retiring in June 1990. Bob enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, gardening and bowling. He served as an usher at St. John the Baptist Church for over 50 years and was a member of the funeral lunch committee. Bob was a member of the Milprint Quarter Century Club and was a volunteer for the St. Vincent de Paul Society.

Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, June; daughters, Linda Calewarts, Howard; Robyn (Stuart) Deardorff, Milwaukee; granddaughters, Kathryn (Katy) and Alyssa (Aly) Deardorff, Milwaukee; brothers, Norbert (Marion) Calewarts; Marvin (Violet) Calewarts; Gene (Carol) Calewarts; brothers and sisters-in-law, Dorothy (Jim) Bigler, Raymond (Donna) Buss; Dick (Bev) Buss; Joan Stieber. Further survived by many nieces, nephews and good friends.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Emil (Jenny) Calewarts, Herman (Flora) Caelwaerts; father and mother-in-law, Fred (Madeline) Buss; brother-in-law, Fred Buss Jr.

Family and friends may call at the Pfotenhauer Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Howard-Suamico location, 1145 Cardinal Lane, on Friday, Nov. 21 from 5 until 8 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 until 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 2597 Glendale Ave., Howard. Mass of Christian Burial 11 a.m. Saturday at the church with the Rev. John Bergstadt officiating. Burial in the church cemetery.
